It takes an enormous amount of time to research and plan such things. Coming up with ideas by researching what other small historic community museums do, then deciding if we have the time, volunteers, energy and/or funds to pull these ideas together. Once the Museum Board decides to run with an idea then the real work and planning begin. Accompanied by the worrying if it'll go smoothly. I've actually discovered a real love for event planning in the last number of years while being here at the Museum. I can't wait to run with some of the ideas for this season. Keep your eyes and ears open for event listings as they are announced. The children's programming will be seeing a few changes this year and we will adding a few events that will involve the community.

Here we are again. Crawling out of hibernation from a particularly hard winter and getting geared up for another wonderful tourist season at the Museum. This year we are very excited about 2014 Events going on in our town of Montague along with island wide. We would also extend a huge congratulations on the opening of the new Riverside Inn, which we get to look at from across the river. You can expect a few new events from the Museum this year, along with more in our exhibits. We will once again be holding our Museum Madness Programs so keep your eyes open for details. Back to work on Monday May 5th to get the Museum ready. Looking forward to seeing you.
Tis the season to start winding down for another year. We have had a fantastic year at the Museum. Numbers are up, our children's programming went well this year, summer students were awesome and headed back to school, and the furnance got turned on for the first time the fall. We've had a steady influx of tours coming in so far in September. People from all over the world. Busy finishing up the 2013 newsletter and boxing up items that will have to wait to be accessioned next year.
This week we had the privilage interviewing a Mr. Athol Robertson. Athol is 91 years young, local historian and war veterian. Now to get to transcribing the wonderful stories. - Connie - ![]() What an incredible turn out we had for our Building. So excited for all the love and support that we had. Also, we were interviewed live on CBC radio with Matt Rainy that morning. The Eastern Graphic and the Guardian showed up and we were featured on PEI's News cast Compass. Very exciting day for our Museum. We purchase a cake for the event from a local business in Montague called Candi's Cakes and it was delicious. After the ribbon was cut to the third floor everyone filed up the stairs and fell in love with the renovation. Pictured above are MLA Charlie McGeoghegan, Mayor of Montague Richard Collins, Museum Board President John Macdonald and Museum board member Edgar Dewar. Thank you to one and all that made this day such a success. The building that the Museum is housed in is really an incredible heritage site. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy that there are so many others th - Connie Spencer - |
